New Boat Project – Update

Well I went down to start painting the deck yesterday, and the test spot I had done was well worth doing.

It seems the paint I have used for coating the inside, that I had decided also to use to fill the last small imperfections in the deck, reacted strangely to the final deck paint. Trying to save time and money at the wrong places, sometimes cost more of my mental health than any savings could possible be worth.

After looking at it for about an hour hoping it would be what it wasn't, OK, I decided to sand it all off.

My 2 hour project for the day, and the last and final coat of paint is not to be!

Out comes the extension cord (300ft) and sander! 5 hours later the deck is 90% sanded back to fiberglass. UGH!

I still have to sand the insides of the gunwells, and wash the boat down of all the paint dust that now fills the little boat! It was all clean and shiny.

My finger got tired of holding the trigger on the sander, so I locked it into place. Then my arms got tired of holding the sander. Then I dropped it, not once, but twice into the boat while it was running at top speed, so now I also must touch up a couple of spots inside the hull. One step forward, two steps back.

No big deal, but ...

It was late, and I was too tired to shot photos, maybe today when I finish sanding.

Did I mention, I REALLY, REALLY, HATE SANDING!
